Mrudula Naidu

Mrudula Naidu is a PhD candidate at NYU School of Medicine, where she leads human-subject research on environmental impacts in child development. Her research experience spans the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Harvard School of Public Health, where she contributed to maternal and child health initiatives. She also serves as Chair of the Young Pharmacist's Group at the International Pharmaceutical Federation and President of NYU's Global Public Health Action Network, combining active research leadership with a strong record of mentoring future health leaders.

Week by Week Curriculum

Week 1: Foundations of Medical and Public Health Research

Learn how medical and public health research questions are developed and tested
Explore fields such as child health, environmental health, infectious disease, and population health
Identify a topic area that aligns with your interests and long-term goals

Week 2: Datasets, Sources, and Research Tools

Work with major public health datasets and sources from organizations like the CDC and WHO
Practice reading and organizing health data for a focused research question
Begin collecting background evidence and early data for your project

Week 3: Literature Review and Study Design

Learn literature review strategy using PubMed, Google Scholar, and other academic databases
Compare quantitative and qualitative research methods and select the right approach for your topic
Develop your research question, hypothesis, and study plan

Week 4: Project Development and Research Roadmap

Choose your final research specialization and refine your project scope
Create a structured project roadmap with milestones, sources, and analysis goals
Draft the core sections of your project with instructor feedback

Week 5: Analysis, Writing, and Revision

Interpret findings and connect them clearly to your central research question
Strengthen your written analysis, visuals, and overall project organization
Revise your full draft and prepare a clear research presentation

Week 6: Presentation and Final Research Submission

Present your completed research project in a conference-style format
Receive feedback on your final project, presentation, and next academic steps
Conclude with certification and discussion of future opportunities in medicine and public health
